Hyde School 0
Portsmouth Abbey 6
The Hyde School Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Portsmouth Abbey yesterday for their second-to-last game of the season. The last time the two teams met was the first game of the season. Both teams have made improvements since, so the result was hard to predict. In the first five minutes, Abbey connected for their first goal. You could tell that Hyde was a bit rough after only having one practice in the last four days. They seemed flat-footed and not quite on the same page. On the contrary, Maddie O’Connor ’15 picked up where she left off on Friday: hungry for a goal. As usual, Hui-Ling Seow ’15 and Alexis Bourgoin ’17 put forth an impressive effort.
At the end of the first half, the score read 0-4. The Wolfpack girls discussed taking the field with urgency during halftime. As the second half began, they did just that. Scoring opportunities were not frequent but Hyde was still able to get some shots off.
The seniors are excited to take the field today for their last soccer game of their high school careers. It will be an impressive battle as the girls have been looking forward to the rematch against St. Andrews. Fans should expect a competitive match-up with every player’s best effort.
