Wolfpack Girls JV Soccer End Year Strong Despite 3-5 Loss to Williams

Hyde – 3

Williams – 5
On Saturday, October 25 during Fall Family weekend the Girls JV soccer team played the Williams school in their last game of the season. Hyde started out strong and came to the field ready to play with a strong defensive line led by Joyce Zhang ’16, Tina She ’16, Katherine Li ’17, and Angel Sima ‘15. In the first half, the team struggled to elevate their play. With some change up of the lines and substituting players into new positions, the Wolfpack was able to shift their play onto the offensive side of the field. By moving some more veteran players, Hyde was able to score their first two goals of the season by Joanna Ren ’16 and Tori Luo ’18. At the half the team discussed elevating their play and continuing to run hard. More effective communication was also discussed as a problem they struggled with throughout the first half. Taking the field for the second half, the girls continued to run hard, and Joyce Zhang’16 was able to score her first goal by moving from sweeper to play striker for the first time. Unfortunately as the game neared the end, Hyde began to lag in their speed and became tired. Because of this they were unable to stop the attempts by the Williams team and fell behind by two leaving the field with a 3-5 loss.
While the Girls JV soccer season finished their year with no wins in their schedule, they worked hard throughout the season, significantly improved in skill and fitness. They became a team through working together in games and through tough practices bettering fitness. The varsity team was able to benefit from their hard work and commitment  by calling up many players throughout the fall. Next year the team will have a solid foundation to build upon and improve in skill and level of play.
