The Wolfpack ladies hosted Lincoln on Wednesday for their one and only meeting of the season. The game kicked off in the cold and wet weather with two quick goals from Lincoln. Following Lincoln’s third goal, Hyde charged down the field and didn’t stop until Alexis Bourgoin ’17 finished the attack with a score. In an attempt to kill the Hyde spirits, Lincoln answered with another goal within thirty seconds. The ladies kept fighting to stay in the game but were unable to recover from the goals allowed, as the first half came to a close.
Following a brief halftime, two first half injuries, and one of the captains benched due to injury, Hyde took the field. The ladies did not let these factors affect their play. Several of them tried new positions but if there’s one thing they’ve learned all season it’s to adapt and persevere. Both teams has several scoring opportunities in the second half. The ball moved fast on the slick turf, which ended in Lincoln’s favor. As the final whistle blew, Hyde found themselves with another loss. This one was with the final score of 1-8.
After a long, wet, conditioning practice today, the girls will take to the field tomorrow for their last home game. They are scheduled to play Providence Country Day. The game was quite evenly matched when Hyde traveled there in the beginning of the season. With home field advantage and the Wolfpack Nation by their side, the girls hope to bring home their first team victory.
