The Wolfpack looked impressive in their 3-1 victory over Williams on Saturday. The Boys jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to two great finishes by Jack Payne ’15. The first goal came on a solo effort by Payne ‘15 who went past 3 defenders before finding the back of the net. Shortly after Brian Thornton ’16 played a beautiful pass through to a streaking Payne ’15 who once again beat the Williams’ keeper. In the 2nd half Williams looked to cut the deficit when they were awarded a penalty kick but goalkeeper Damon Gomes ’15 made a marvelous save that kept the 2-0 lead for the Wolfpack. The defense battled to maintain the shutout but Williams took advantage of a communication miscue in the Wolfpack defense and netted their first and lone goal of the game. The Boys responded with a goal by George Sawchuck ’15 who drilled a shot from 20 yards out past the Williams keeper. Overall, the Wolfpack worked hard and played to impress the parents and supporters who were watching the game. Man of the Match was awarded to Kris Carroll ’16 who played his best game of the season, working hard and running tirelessly for the entire match. The Wolfpack takes on Marianapolis at home on the turf on Wednesday 10/29 @ 3pm. This is a must win for the Boys who look to make it into the SENE tournament. Hopefully the WOLFPACK NATION is out in full force.
