Tough 0-4 Loss for Wolfpack Boys JVS vs Phoenix Rivals

Boys Junior Varsity Soccer at Hyde-Bath 10/18/14

Loss 0-4;
Season Record 0-0-7

The Wolfpack travelled to Bath, Maine on Saturday 18, October, taking part in the President’s Cup between the two Hyde School campuses. After an excellent half of shutout soccer by both teams, the Phoenix found a way to squeeze a shot past Sean McKinley ’16  in the 47th minute and, thereafter, utilized their deep bench to overrun the Wolfpack defense, defeating Woodstock 0-4. The game exemplified the Wolfpack’s tribulations this season, where a core group of players have improved and compete successfully against more experience opponents but where a few mistakes in maintaining possession and defensive positioning prove costly. McKinley had the play of the game in the first half when Bath’s striker sped past the outside back and rocketed a breakaway shot toward the upper near post. Somehow McKinley reacted quickly enough to deflect it out of bounds, and he received a complementary cheer from the Bath fans. Solid performances were put in by Leo Wang ‘15Jerry Wang ‘16, Andrew Kim ’16,Devon Churchill ‘17, and Jason Ruan ‘17. The team’s next game is at home on Fall Family Weekend against the Williams School.
