Hyde Woodstock: 0
Hyde Bath: 2
The Wolfpack travelled up to the Maine campus to compete against a talented Hyde team. Despite the result, the coaching staff and players left the field proud of our effort, sportsmanship, and performance. The boys fought hard for a full 90 minutes of play, stifling numerous Bath attacks while applying pressure in the offensive third. Overall, the defense, led by Sam Bell ’15 and George Sawchuck ’15, played an excellent game. Both goals came under rare circumstances, as the first slipped through the keeper’s hands on a long throw-in, and the second took a deflection off a defender’s head and found the back of the net. Damon Gomes ’15 made a spectacular diving save followed by a second block on the put back to keep the game 1-0 in the first half, and Liam Gorey ’15 and Markus Rhyner ’16 brought great intensity to the field. Kris Carroll ’16 and Brian Thornton ’16 also gave great efforts at outside mid and outside back respectively. With only 2 substitutions on the day, the majority of the team played every minute of the game, displaying the heart and fortitude that the boys possess when they come together and work hard. Our next match is home on 10/25 against Williams, and the team looks forward to carrying the momentum from today’s contest, knowing that we can compete with any opponent when playing at our best.
