Phoenix Girls Varsity Soccer Falls to Kents Hill 0-4

GIRLS  VARSITY SOCCER vs. Kents Hill

 October 3, 2014

 Hyde – 0

Kent’s Hill – 4

Hyde hosted Kents Hill for its second meeting of the 2014 season.  It was the third game of the week for the Phoenix and though tired, they had gained a lot of team insight over the preceding week.  The opening minutes looked strong until Kents Hill found the back of the net on a corner kick.  From there, spirits waned for the Hyde team and they went on to allow three more goals making it 4-0 at the half.  The second half was a completely different game.  Captain Jill Tolman ’16 took the field with inspiring intensity, commanding the mid-field and threatening the Huskie goal.  Junior Varsity recruit Anna Presson ’15 played an outstanding half in goal, exuding confidence and enthusiasm that rippled through the Phoenix side.  Allie Grover ’16 made huge contributions to the Phoenix possession turning in one of her best performances of the year.  It was a great second half that the team hopes to replicate from the opening whistle at their next contest.
