Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Dublin School
Hyde School 2
Dublin School 0
Boys Varsity Soccer traveled to Epping New Hampshire to play a neutral sight match against Dublin School. The game was played on an artificial turf pitch under warm sunny conditions.
Hyde possessed the ball well during the first half. The first goal was scored in the 14th minute when left winger James Kellogg`16 crossed in a pretty ball that Gatouch Pan`17 headed into the back of the net. Hyde had a few more chances in the first half, but none found their way in to the goal. The score at half time was 1-0.
The Phoenix continued to control the possession game in the second half of play. They had a few shots just miss, going off the frame of the goal. In the 80th minute James Kellogg`16 passes the ball to Kiefer Cundy`15 who was just inside the box. Cundy was taken down on a hard tackle and awarded a penalty kick as a result. He converted the PK to put the team up 2-0.
This was a good match from a tactical standpoint. The defensive backs did a good job of transitioning the ball away from pressure and switching fields. Wingers and center midfield players were passing and moving into space with a crisp two-touch style of soccer. Apart from shot accuracy, it was a very well-played match. The next contest is Saturday October 11th at Kents Hill School.
