Wolfpack JVF Shows Promise in Season Opener vs Kingswood Oxford

JV Football vs Kingswood Oxford

Hyde – 8

Kingswood Oxford – 24

The Hyde School Junior Varsity Football team was visited by football powerhouse Kingswood Oxford for the first game of the season. The Wolfpack was initially overwhelmed by the size and familiarity with the game displayed by KO’s defensive line, struggling to give the quarterback and running backs time to develop their plays.

After falling behind two scores in the first half, the Wolfpack bounced back behind strong play on the offensive and defensive line from Chris Darling ’15Kevin Wang ’16 and Jake Dickerson ‘16. Hyde was able to protect quarterback Gilles Truyen ’16 and Kevin Ge ’15 who both put up big numbers in the improved rushing attack, and Kevin’s huge 70+ score.

Hyde’s defense held the Dragon’s scoreless in the second half behind some creative schemes from new JV Genius Coach Draper. Newcomers to the game, Zekun Jia ’17 and newcomers to the team, Michael Jawitz ‘18 were critical to that effort and both delivered huge hits and improved their knowledge of the game.

Overall, despite the outcome, this was a good showing of effort and improvement from a young team.
