Saturday, October 4th
On Saturday, the varsity football team traveled to New Hampshire to take on the Rams from Tilton School. Hyde jumped all over the Rams early and controlled the game the entire way. The whole team made the trip and each person played. Jimmy Murphy ‘15 led the way with most of the scoring; he had two rushing touchdowns, a punt return, a fumble return, and kicked an extra point, all in the first half. Dexter Thompson ’15 also had a big day scoring on a rushing touchdown, a punt return, and also recorded an interception. Senior running back Kevin Ge ’15, scored on a long run in the fourth quarter in his first varsity experience. Senior guard/linebacker Jesse McKiernan ’15 played fullback in the fourth quarter and punched in a short run for a two-point conversion.
Once again, the defense was solid. Senior captain Jack Greenberg ’15 easily recorded over ten solo tackles on the day.Jake “State Farm” Dickerson ’16 started for the first time at nose-guard and sacked the quarterback in the second half for his first varsity sack. Austin Allard ’15 saw his first action this week after being recently medically cleared and did a great job all day getting in on many tackles. Senior quarterback/free-safety Harrison Smith ’15 once again did an outstanding job of executing the offense and leading the team; he was fully engaged in the game from start to finish and was supporting each and every player that made it on the field. The sportsmanship on the field was great and the boys represented themselves, their families, and Hyde School very well.
Now at 2-1, the Wolfpack look forward to hosting the Lumberjacks from Hebron Academy next Saturday, October 11th, at 2:30pm.
