The boys cross country team travelled to Hebron Academy for competition against Hebron, Kents Hill, and Gould Academy. With the exception of Hebron, all teams essentially had their JV competitors representing their respective schools on the day. For Hyde, we competed with only one of our top seven runners as mid-season injuries and sickness has taken a toll on our varsity ranks.
The misty rain did not deter the runners competing for Hyde on the day. I couldn’t have been more proud of the boys. As a team, they finished second overall to Hebron and virtually all had their best 5K time of the season.
Hang Zhao `15 was our top competitor on the day finishing a strong 3rd overall (a 5K PR). Finishing right behind him in 4th place was Josh Dow `16 who had his best race of the season. Next for Hyde in 8th place overall was freshman Bill Li `17 with his best-ever 5K run of the season. Rounding out our scoring five were Lwazi Rennert `16 in 10th place and Sam Millard `15 in 12th place. Our displacers (6th & 7th runners) were Ellis Butler `15 in 15th place and Paul Xi `15 in 16th place.
Other Hyde finishers were…
Jack Gao `17 – 17th place (and a 5K PR by over 3½ minutes)
Alan Wu `16 – 18th place (and a 5K PR by over 3 minutes)
Mike Hu `17 – 22nd place
Individual boy’s results and team scores are attached.
