Hyde Boys Varsity Soccer vs St. Thomas More
Hyde Boys Varsity Soccer: 0
The Wolfpack put forth their best team performance of the season, making today’s result that much tougher to swallow. After a scoreless first half, the boys felt confident as they controlled the run of play and created dangerous chances. Early in the second half, Hyde had another chance to take the lead after a handball that prevented a goal, resulting in a red card and STM playing a man down. The Wolfpack moved the ball well, worked tirelessly, and generated 23 shots, but the ball never found the back of the net. Late in the second half, St. Thomas More converted their scoring opportunity and notched the game winner from the top of the box. Jeremy Gu ’15 played his best game of the year on defense, and Markus Rhyner ’16 applied good pressure for the entire 80 minutes. All in all, the coaches acknowledge and commend the team effort and attitude, and we are proud of the boys’ persistence, sportsmanship, and grit. The match revealed the passion and determination that our team is capable of, and we have no intention of giving up as we look ahead.
