Wolfpack GVS Falls to MPS

Girls Varsity Soccer vs Marianapolis

Hyde – 0
Marianapolis – 9

The girls hosted Marianapolis for a soccer match on the turf yesterday. With only one substitute available on the bench, the Wolfpack started strong for the first ten minutes. Their energy was high which helped them in fighting off several scoring opportunities for the visiting team. As the eleventh minute approached, Marianapolis found the back of the net. Within ten more minutes, the ladies of Hyde found themselves down by four goals. Just as the game seemed at its lowest, Hyde lost their only sub after a hard tackle.

Going into the second half, Hyde was down 0-7 and not only without subs, but forced to play one player down. With the odds totally against them and Marianapolis not planning to let up, the team picked their heads up and finished as a team. Leaving any bickering behind, they were able to come together, have fun, and only allow two goals in the second half.

The team has seen their ups and downs as they approach the halfway point of their season. The consistency of Joyce Zhang ’15Alex Bourgoin ’17, and Tracy He ‘15 as newcomers to the varsity team have proven to be unexpected assets this so far. With a team low on numbers, consistency and health are the most important things to get through this season. The Hyde Varsity Girls Soccer team continues to search for their first win as they travel to Rocky Hill on Friday.
