Phoenix Girls Varsity vs. Kents Hill

Hyde – 0

Kent’s Hill – 6

Hyde played its first MAISAD league game away versus Kents Hill.  It was a gorgeous fall day, perfect for soccer.  The Hyde defense was a little slow to organize and the Huskies took advantage of this to get on the board early with two quick goals.  After that, junior captain Kelsey Talbutt ’16 rallied the backs and regained composure to halt the scoring.  Allie Grover ’17 played incredibly hard through an injury alongside central mid-field captain Avery Booth ’15.  Both were key in serving balls forward to be picked up by hard working striker Lilli Allen ’17.  Recently moved to outside-mid, Kristine Bailey ’16 had several strong carries up the left side, generating crosses for scoring opportunities.  Unfortunately, the Huskies remained strong in their backfield, only allowing a few shots on goal.  After a 4-0 first half, the Phoenix returned to the pitch with better intensity, holding the hosts to only two more goals.  It was a tough game against a talented Kents Hill offense.
