The Proctor Hornets invaded the Phoenix field on a hot Indian summer day in Maine.  The first quarter saw both teams display different offensive threats; Proctor runs and Hyde throws.  Deontae Crumitie ’15 (1 sack and 7 tackles on the day) and Toby Taradeina ’15 (8 tackles on the day) combined with Austin Makris’15, Sam Zanta ’15 and Andrew Palermo ’16 who each combined for five or more tackles to foil the Proctor running attack.  With each defense frustrating their opponent’s the first ended in a 0 – 0 tie.

Hyde came out gunning in the second only to have passes come up incomplete to stall drives.  The Hornets stung first as QB #4 Warren Albert found #11 Chris Agyemang for a 26 yard TD pass.  The kick by #23 Andrew Jonash was good and the Hornets were up 7 – 0 at the 6:05 mark in the 2nd.  Hyde picked up a first down on their next possession; however they were stopped by an incomplete pass on a critical 3rd and long.  Proctor took possession on their 31 yard line and on the very next play, Hornet #9 Nathan Kyeame rambled 69 yards off tackle for the TD. Janash added the extra point and the Hornets lead going into half time 14 – 0.

The third saw Proctor QB Albert connect with #11 Agyemang for a second TD pass at the 9:52 mark           and Proctor was up 20 – 0.  Less than 2 minutes later Toby Taradeina ‘15 (4 completions for 84 yards and 2 TD’s on the day) connected with Deker Adelman ’15 for a 24 yard TD pass and Hyde was in the hunt again; 20 – 7.   Both defensive teams again stifled the opposing offense for the rest of the 3rd and it was down to the last 12 minutes to complete the comeback.

The fourth saw both teams match each other drive for drive and score or score. Proctor opened the 4th on their 41 yard line and pounded out a 6 play drive capped by a 7 yard TD run from Kyeame; Proctor 26 – Hyde 7 with 9:47 to go.   Five plays later, Hyde returned the score when Hyde’s newest team member Shemar Jack ’16 (14 carries for 133 yards) rambled 56 yards off tackle for the score.  Adelman added the extra point and closed the gap to within twelve at 14 – 26 with 6:05 to go.   Three minutes later Kyeame added his third TD on the day with another long (38 yard) run and the Hornets extended their lead to 33 – 14.  With 0:34 seconds to go, Hyde closed the scoring and the game with a 55 yard drive in less than a minute when Taradeina found Ricky Buono ’16 twice for a 28 yard reception and then a 24 yard TD catch to end the tough fought game: Proctor 33 – Hyde 20.
