St. Andrews- 4
After a long stretch of practice, the Hyde girls were excited to get back on the pitch vs. St. Andrews Monday afternoon. They came out with great aggression and heart in the first half which led to a few opportunities and more control of the ball. Unfortunately, a pass that snuck past the back four led to a breakaway and the first goal for the opposing side. The girls continued to hustle but as they got tired, little mistakes became costly and St. Andrews scored 3 more on the day.
Despite the final result, the girls proved to be resilient as they never gave up. This was led by the confidence and composure of Doussou Ndaiye ’15 and Alexis Bourgoin ’17 who both controlled the ball better than team has all season. The girls also saw their first real opportunity of the year with a breakaway by Maddie O’Conor ’16 which disappointingly found the goalie’s hands instead of the back of the net.
Overall, it was a positive day for the Girl’s team as they successfully brought the things they had learned in practice into the game and played as a team. The team took a step forward in heart, commitment and understanding of the game. We look forward to seeing more growth from the squad in today’s match-up vs. Wheeler.
