Tough Fight for Phoenix BVS vs. Hoosac Ends in Tie, 2-2

September 20, 2014

 Hyde School      2

 Hoosac School  2

The Hoosac School traveled to Bath from Hoosac Valley New York to play a match on Saturday.  The contest was played on Hyde School’s natural grass pitch under partly cloudy skies and warm conditions.

This match was quite physical from the start.  Possession went back and forth for much of the first half of play with neither team finding much rhythm.   In the 43rd minute of play, Captain Andrew Davis`15 took a free kick from near half field and Gatouch Pan`17 headed it into the goal.  There were two notable fouls in the first half, both yellow cards against Hoosac for hard play. The score at halftime was 1-0.

In the 54th minute, Hyde Keeper Noah Horning`15 was called for a foul on a player while defending the goal.  This resulted in a penalty kick for Hoosac which they converted to tie the game.  In the 65th minute stopper Dow Drukker`15 transitioned the ball to post graduate Abdibaari Hersi who passed it forward to Gatouch Pan`17.  Pan`17 took one touch on the ball to put it past a defender and shot.  The keeper got a piece of it, but it went into the goal just the same to put Hyde up 2-1.   In the 85th minute midfielder Kiefer Cundy`15 was called for a foul near the top of the box and booked with a yellow card.  Hoosac was awarded a free kick as a result.  The Hoosac player taking the kick drove the ball just outside the left side of the wall of defenders and low into the goal to tie the match.  The next contest will be Monday September 22nd at Bowdoin College for a scrimmage with the Men’s Junior Varsity Soccer team.
