Varsity Football vs Dexter School

Hyde: 18
Dexter: 0

On Saturday, Hyde hosted Evergreen League divisional foe Dexter School. It was a hard fought game that didn’t see a score until just before halftime. The story of the day was the Wolfpack defense which kept Dexter out of the end-zone all day while intercepting them five times.

Hyde opened up the scoring in the second quarter when running back Jimmy Murphy ’15 ran it in from ten yards out. Murphy would also score another rushing touchdown in the second half in addition to his interception return for six points. Harrison Smith ‘15 and Dexter Thompson ’15 each added two interceptions of their own to help stall multiple Dexter drives. Defensive tackle Jared Labades ’15 was a consistent force on the defensive line all day helping to slow down the Dexter running game.

Offensively, Marcus Greenidge ’17 ran the ball hard and helped Hyde control the tempo of the game. Quarterback Harrison Smith ’15 completed three passes, two to Jack Greenberg ’15 and one to Thompson. It was a solid and important divisional win.

Hyde stays at home this week and welcomes New Hampton School on Saturday at 3:00pm.
