Date:   April 13, 2014

Score:  Hyde:  12           Kent’s Hill School: 16

The Hyde Future Phoenix hosted the Huskies of Kent’s Hill School in a MAISAD contest.    The Huskies jumped out to a 6 – 0 lead halfway through the 1st quarter. With 4 minutes to go in the first, Gabe Bernstein ’15 scooped up the ball and took it end to end for the first goal of the season.  With the momentum shifted, Alec Chapman ’17 added his first (of 4) goals to end the first 6 – 2. Andrew Palermo ’15, not to be outdone by his fellow defenseman, went end to end, not once, but twice to notch two goals of his own.  With his excellent clears, he also added 4 assists to his scoring total for a six point game.

The teams entered halftime with the Huskies still on top 6 – 9, and the phoenix beginning to find their wings. Mike Friedman ’15 added two goals with Shane Miller ‘15, Duncan O’Rourke ‘15 and David WU ‘15 each adding a goal to the tally.  Ross Ji ’16 owned the faceoff circle with 5 clean wins and 2 nice shots on net, while on defense Tenzin Crane ’15 scooped up 5 ground balls with three strips and 2 clears to his credit.  Phoenix net-minder Hang Zhao ’15 stopped 20 shots on net, showing increased confidence and poise as each period passed.

Although the final score ended with Kent’s Hill up 16 -12, the Phoenix showed they could come back from a deficit and give a great fight to the end.  Andrew Palermo and Alec Chapman each earned the “Dirty Ball” award for their Hustle – Heart and Spirit during the game.
