Hyde-CT: 68.5pts (9th out of 16)
This past weekend, the Woodstock wrestlers traveled to Bath, ME to compete in the annual Northern New England Invitational. This is the tournament shared by Hyde-Bath, Hyde-Woodstock and Tilton School. The host site is changed each year and shared by these three schools. This year was both close and competitive, allowing for some of the newer guys to win some matches. Congratulations goes out to Philips Academy for winning this year’s NNEI, as well as to Hyde-Bath for doing a wonderful job hosting. Some highlights on the day were Dylan Marx ’14, Markus Rhyner ’16, and Dawit Kiflemariam ’15 who all made it into the quarters of the consolation rounds or better. The wrestler of the day went to Senior Captain, Marcos Mercado ’14, who earned four successive pins in under 2:30 total time on the mat. He went out and dominated each of his opponents, even beating the #2 seed in the finals with a sub-1 min pin. Very impressive day for him. Overall, Hyde-Woodstock finished 9th out of 16 teams. With tomorrow’s matches being snowed out, the Woodstock grapplers will be preparing for the Class A League Tournament this weekend. Wish us luck!
