Hyde’s Indoor Track program competed on Friday in its last regular season Western Maine Conference league meet. Up next is the State Class B championship for three of our athletes. It was a solid evening of performances with a number of the Hyde athletes achieving personal bests on the season. Individual results are attached.
On the women’s side, senior captain Julia Jackson `14 sat out the meet with a light hamstring pull. Julia has already qualified for the State Indoor Track Championships in the 400m. Joining her will be Jill Tolman `16 who qualified last night in the 400m with a personal best time of 1:06.99. Jill also took fifth place in the 55m hurdles with a personal best performance of 11.50. Xi Wang `14 ran her heart out in the 2 mile, finishing in second place but just missing out on the State Meet qualifying time of 13:15. She ran a personal best of 13:22.61.
In the men’s meet, Alex Greenberg `15 placed second in the 2 mile with a personal best of 10:29.42. Alex had previously qualified for the State Meet in this event. Sabastian Knoefel `16 had his best meet of the season with two fourth place finishes… a personal best 7.46 in the 55m and another personal best of 26.15 in the 200m. Joe Stanchina `15 placed 6th overall in the 400m with a personal best of 59.75. One of the evening’s highlights was Chris Lutts `15 in the 1 mile. Chris has been on the quest all year to break the 6 minute mile barrier. Chris has consistently shaved time off each meet from his original 6:38.7 time and last night crossed the line with a personal best 5:59.74. Congratulations, Chris!!!
Now the list of personal records established last night…
Our next meet is the State Championships on Monday, February 17th at Bates College… 10:00AM start.
