Hyde 11 vs. Andover 81.5
Hyde 11 vs. Wilbraham and Monson 78.5
Hyde 11 vs. Governor’s Academy 10
The team traveled up to Andover today and competed against Wilbraham and Monson, Governor’s, and of course Andover. Thomas Nixon and Rob Ficarra each scored 4 of the teams 11 points. The relay team picked up 2 points, and the point that put us over on Governor’s can be attributed to Tom Huang picking up a 5th place point in the 2mi with a 14:26. Not quite a PR for Tom but enough to grab us a point. T-Nix had excellent races in the 50yd dash and the 50yd hurdles taking 4th place in both his times were 6.1 and 7.6 respectively. He was also the anchor on the relay team that picked up 2 points. Rob Ficarra landed his 4 points by taking 2nd place in the shot with a throw of 41’3” and also helped earn the 2 points taken by the 4×400 team. Bill Lin and Sean Sullins put in a solid effort in their legs of the relay as well with the team finishing in 4:49. Sean also narrowly missed scoring in the high jump but set a personal record of 5’2”. Ryan Zwick made significant improvement in the mile setting a PR for himself with a 6:10 and had an excellent 600yd as well. The guys should be proud of fighting it out, jumping into events when asked, and squeaking out a victory against Governor’s.
On the girl’s side, Amelia Lyle competed well in the shot put, and the 50yd but only managed to pick up points in the pole vault. She placed 1st out of the ladies and would have taken 2nd place against the men as well, clearing 8’, just below her own outdoor record. Katie Mehiel did not compete today but was very helpful in keeping the team organized, keeping track of the results, and counting laps for the runners.
