Hyde-Woodstock Girls Varsity Basketball vs. Wheeler

Hyde-Woodstock – 39

Wheeler – 45

Hyde traveled to Wheeler to play a league match-up, the first one of 2014.  After a long break the wolf pack struggled to find solid footing on both offense and defense.  The starters found it difficult to work together offensively and were individually out of rhythm.  The highlight of the half was senior Janicha Diaz hitting a half-court shot going into halftime putting the team within five points of Wheeler.  Hyde’s defense lacked intensity and commitment allowing a lot of easy looks.  They also did not play defense with their feet which led to a lot of fouls where Wheeler hit 6 out of 11, the difference at the half.   The second half was better but still not enough to prevail.  Hyde plays St. Andrews on Monday in another league match-up.

Scoring was as follows: Janicha Diaz 10-2-26, Ndeye Ndiaye 4-1-9, and Maia Johnson 2-0-4

Played but did not score: Alyssa Egan, Lila Paulsen, Virginia Garrity, and Justine Zhang
