Hyde vs. Wheeler School
Wednesday, January 8th, the girls JV basketball team traveled to Seekonk, MA to take on Wheeler school. Sluggish at the start of the game, Hyde fell behind. With a few quick time outs the team started to pick up their play and better match Wheeler’s intensity. Playing a team with more experience, left Hyde struggling to pull together a defensive strategy to combat the accurate shooting of the Wheeler offense. The wolf pack ended the first half down 0-20. With some new strategies and ready to step up their intensity further, Hyde found their rhythm the second half. Effective defensive, hustle and courage to take a shot allowed Hyde to even the playing field. Consistent effort throughout both halves from Naiwen Zhang ’14 and strong defense by Joanna Ren ’16 allowed Hyde to open up the court and better understand the game. Joyce Zhang ’16, Jule ’15, and improving skills from Sarah Fan’15 allowed Hyde to continue to make opportunities for N. Zhang and J. Zhang to score their first points of the season. Ren also continued to help out the team taking shots and scoring two points. The final score of the game ended at 7-32 with a lot of skills and understanding gained throughout the game. Hyde looks forward to their next game home on Monday, Jan 13 against St. Andrews School.
