Phoenix Boys V Basketball Run Over Cavaliers

Bath-The Hyde Phoenix (4-0) got out to an early lead and never looked back defeating its rival the Valley Cavaliers (6-2) of Bingham by a score of 59-36 on Tuesday in Boys’ Class D basketball action.

Hyde was able to establish the inside game of sophomore center Akim Sanni who scored early.  Point guard Kiefer Cundy converted on a 3 point play to give Hyde a 6-2 lead. The Phoenix forced the Cavaliers into some costly turnovers as Valley could not handle the pressure defense of the Phoenix. Hyde went on a 12-2 run and ended the first quarter with an 18-4 lead.  Valley rallied by scoring 14 2nd quarter points.  However, Hyde led at the half 31-18.

Wilson MacMillan scored a career high 19 points to lead all scorers.  MacMillan also converted on 2 deep three point shots.  Akim Sanni tallied 15 points, 4 blocked shots and one thunderous jam in limited action. Defensive stopper, Talin Rowe scored 8 points and had 8 rebounds off the bench for Hyde.  Teagan Laweryson led the Cavaliers with 11 points.
