Last Second Shot Beats Phoenix Girls V Basketball vs Seacoast

Girls Varsity Basketball

 Hyde Phoenix  27

Seacoast Guardians 28

After returning from a long holiday break from school, practice, and games, the girls basketball players boarded a bus for Berwick, Maine to take on the Guardians of Seacoast Christian.  It was an exciting game in a raucous gymnasium that went down to the wire.  After leading most of the game, the Phoenix were stunned when a shot with 7 seconds left went in to give Seacoast a 1 point victory 28-27.  The victory for Seacoast avenged a loss they suffered to Hyde earlier in the season here in Bath, Maine.  The ladies of Hyde were clearly disappointed by the tough loss, but they were quick to applaud and recognize the well-played game by their competitive and very sportsmanlike opponents.  Furthermore, there is little time to dwell on this one that got away given the busy basketball schedule that awaits the ladies in the weeks to come.  In terms of game highlights, Sr. Emma Leonard continues to be a consistent contributor as she equaled her season high of 8 points, scoring a basket in each of the four quarters.  So. Diamond Brown once again led all scorers with 13 pointsSo. Lutes Bartlett played the entire game working very hard on both ends of the court scoring 4 points.  A special shout out goes to first year player, So. Kristine Bailey who played most of the game and gained valuable experience in the post.  Bailey is showing signs of improvement each and every day.  As usual, Fr. Allison Grover did her best impression of the “energizer bunny” running all over the court and doing all that she can to contribute.
