Hyde’s Indoor Track program competed Wednesday in its first meet of the season against Phillips-Andover, Governors Academy, and Wilbraham-Monson (at Andover). It was a little intimidating walking into the Andover indoor track facility to see 95+ track athletes from Andover, another 35 from both Governors and Wilbraham. We had 11 competing athletes total. Despite the overwhelming odds and the fact that all but five of our athletes were in there first-ever track meet, I was pleased with our performance.
On the women’s side, Julia Jackson `14 placed third in the 300yd dash (44.64). WangXi Wang `14 placed 4th in the 1000yd run (3:38.72) and placed 5th in the mile (6:26.5).
On the men’s side, we also had a strong performance from Sebastian Knoefel `15 placing 4th in the 50 Dash (6.58). Alex Greenberg `15placed 5th in the 1000yd run (2:50.32) and placed 5th in the mile (5:07.2).
As of this writing, I am still awaiting for the list of none scoring times. While not scoring, we had very good performances from Jill Tolman `16in the 300yd dash, Avery Booth `15 in the mile and 1000yd run, Chris Lutts `15 and Richard Lui `14 in both the mile and 1000yd run, Joey Romo `15 in the 600yd dash, Max D’Amato `14 in the 600yd dash and 1000yd run, and Andrew Martz `15 in the 300yd dash.
It was a good day for Hyde track and field. The meet results are attached.
