On October 26th, Hyde Phoenix hosted the first home meet of the season and also the last regular season meet before MAISAD championship. For the first time this year, Gould, Hebron, Seacoast, Kents Hill, and Hyde raced with their complete teams represented. With a team score of 46, Hyde Phoenix placed second by half a second behind Gould with 45. Seacoast took third with 53. Our overall record is 15-2.
Leading handily after the first mile, Hyde Phoenix pushed the pace at 5:20 with 7 runners in the top 13. After the second mile, Gould emerged to take the lead behind the running of Henry Smithers by 5 points. Hyde rallied in the final mile as Alex Greenberg ’15 (16:11), Isaac Preston (16:22), andWarsame Mohamed ‘14 (16:41) came in 4th, 5th, and 7th overall. Beaten by half a second as Seacoast runner Caleb LaCroix edged Mohamed out at the finish line. This swung the meet to Gould Academy’s favor by one point. Shout-outs to Richard Liu ’14 (17:48) finished fourth for Hyde and 14thoverall while Matt Lupovich ’14 (18:00) closed the door for the Phoenix.
For Future Varsity, Zach Brandeis ’14 (19:25) continued to push for personal best and led his team. Sam Millard ’15 (20:34) too had a very solid race. On this fast course, Wang Xi ‘14 placed 5th overall for girl’s cross-country with a time of 20:46. Julie Boutboul ’14 finished with a time of 26:58.
