Strong Play in Wolfpack Boys Varsity Soccer Duel vs. St. Luke’s

Boys Varsity Soccer  vs. St. Luke’s

October 12, 2013

Final Score:
Hyde: 1
St. Luke’s: 5

Hyde hosted St. Luke’s in a match that was much closer than the score reflected. The Wolfpack played a solid first half but were trailing 1-0 at the break. The first 40 minutes of the game were controlled by Hyde given that they played the entirety of those minutes on St. Luke’s half of the field. The Boys were confident and optimistic going into the second half knowing that they were dominating play. Unfortunately for the Wolfpack, St. Luke’s scored again and the team morale vanished. As a team, Hyde lost its urgency and failed to show the same effort they did in the first half. St. Luke’s would go on to score 2 more goals, making 4-0 before the Wolfpack was awarded a penalty kick which Felipe Azevedo ’13 capitalized on. After Azevedo’s goal from the penalty kick, the Wolfpack looked like they had some gas left in the tank but it was far too late. St. Luke’s would tally another goal before the final whistle giving them the 5-1 victory over Hyde. Player of the game was Wanjiang “Iker” Yang ’13 because of his strong defensive performance and hard fought play.
