Phoenix Boys Varsity Soccer Bests Woodstock Sister School 4-0

Boys Varsity Soccer traveled to Woodstock Connecticut on Saturday to compete against our sister school.  The match was played on natural grass under clear skies and warm temperatures.

In the 12th minute  Kiefer Cundy`15 sent a flighted ball over their defenders on the left side of the field to Wilson MacMillan`14, who settled it and shot it over the keeper into the back of net.  Eight minutes later the Phoenix scored again.   Andrew Davis`15 took a direct free kick from the left side of the field about ten yards inside the half.  He hit a beautifully placed ball to the far post.  Wilson MacMillan`14 converted on a well-executed header.  The score at half time was 2-0.

The Phoenix dominated the possession game in the second half and had some quality opportunities in the early going.  In the 55th minute, center midfielder Cole Faulkner`15 scored on a Wilson MacMillan`14 assist.  MacMillan`14 scored a third goal late in the game on an assist from winger Chris Baldwin`16.  Other notable play came from the entire defensive unit consisting ofAndrew Davis`15 at centerback, Dow Drukker`15 at stopper, Elliot Wang`14 at left fullback and Zack Heatley`14 at right fullback.  Keeper Noah Horning`15 had an outstanding day in goal, notching another shutout.  Both teams displayed commendable sportsmanship before, during and after the game.   Our next match is Wednesday at Kents Hill School.
