The Hyde Woodstock JV football team traveled to the coast on Wednesday to face Portsmouth Abbey. The Wolfpack got off to a strong start on defense, making key stops and preventing Portsmouth from scoring in the first quarter. JV leader Kevin Wang ’16 turned in a fierce performance at defensive tackle, clogging up attempts to run up the middle. Jack Greenberg ’15 and John McMahon ’15 provided support from the linebacker position. However, eventually the defense broke and Portsmouth was able to score before the half. Offensively, Will Kuphal ’15 was instrumental from the tailback position, running hard and providing the Wolfpack with scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, Hyde squandered a key drive in the fourth quarter and lost to Portsmouth 14 to 8. Hyde looks forward to its next game against St. George’s squad.
