Bulldogs Bite Phoenix

The Boys JV Soccer team traveled down to South Berwick, Maine for a shortened 70 minutes of soccer against the Berwick Academy Bulldogs.  Missing a few key defenders, left the Phoenix scrambling to fill the gaps.  New starter to the line-up, Tang Zeyuan ’15, stepped up in his role as right winger for the first half of play, and continued to give his best effort throughout the game.  Alec Chapman ’17 and Aidan Bristow ’16 demonstrated solid play at the right full-back and midfield positions in the first half as well.  The reliable play from a few could not compensate enough to stop the Bulldog offense.  Hyde would trail at half-time 4-0.

Freshman Jeremy Jing ’17 would play some of his best soccer so far this season.  Jing chased down loose balls and was connecting passes to his fellow teammates from his forward position.  The missing key players left the Hyde bench short-staffed.  This called for some other players to step-up, and Lawson Lin ’15 and David Wu ’15 did just that.  Both played the majority of the game, Lin played solid as the anchor of the defense, while Wu filled his role at the central midfield position.

The JV Hyde Phoenix would allow another handful of goals, and the final score would be 10-0.  The boys will travel to Hebron on Saturday and then turn right around to face Fryeburg on Monday.
