Girls Varsity Soccer
September 30, 2013
Hyde School was visited by Williams on Saturday in the late afternoon for the first meeting of these two teams this season. Williams was looking for their first win and Hyde was looking for their second. Both teams came out physical, on and off the ball. The referees decided to let the girls play and play, they did. The teams were evenly matched through most of the first half but Williams was able to sneak in two goals before the first forty minutes were done. As the half came to an end, both teams retreated to their benches, impatiently waiting to continue the battle on the field.
Williams struck quickly in the second half but the goal was quickly answered by Janicha Diaz ’13, assisted byDossou Ndiaye ’14 of Hyde. Hyde began dominating the ball and getting roughed-up in the process. The Wolfpack failed to score on several drives for nearly twenty minutes until Virginia Garrity ’13 was able to connect withDossou Ndiaye ’14 to make the score 2-4. In the last ten minutes, both teams were each able to earn another goal, leaving the score 3-5. The final goal for Hyde was Diaz’s second goal and Garrity’s second assist of the game.
Hyde School drops to a 1-4 record on the season with the loss against Williams. The upcoming week presents three new teams for the Wolfpack to face. They hope to see their new threats, Garrity and Ndiaye capitalize on more scoring opportunities. Furthermore, Hui-Ling Seow ’14 has proven to be a force to reckon with her starting keeper position.
