The Hyde Phoenix JV Football team traveled to Fryeburg Academy for its first game of the season and came away with a hard fought 12-8 victory. Jr. Casey Maccubbins led the way with 192 yards on 20 carries, while QB Evan Robish ran for one TD and passed for another with a 35 yard pass to Fr. Greg Kidger. On the defensive side of the ball, the Phoenix played tough and kept the Raiders’ offense out of the end zone. The lone Fryeburg score came on an 85 yard kick return. Highlights on defense were turned in by Jrs. Jimmy Talbot and Decker Aldeman who both made interceptions, and Jr Austin Makris and Sr. Chris Proach who each made fumble recoveries.
Overall, it was a great day hosted well by Fryeburg Academy, and it was a nice team win for the Phoenix football program Next up, the JV team takes on Medomak Valley at home on Wednesday, Oct 9th at 4 pm.
