The Girls of Hyde School traveled to Rehoboth, MA to face Lincoln on Wednesday for their second game of the regular season. With a few players missing, including their starting keeper, and their captain, Grace Briggs ’13, arriving late due to prior commitments, the team was fighting an uphill battle from the start. Many players were forced to try new positions such as Sam Frisoli ’13 at center midfield and Emma Deary ’14 at keeper.
At halftime, Hyde found themselves down 0-4 with little control of the ball. This didn’t stop the team from entering the second half with their heads up. Still looking for her first goal of the season, Briggs lead the offense into the Lincoln zone several times in the second half. Twenty four minutes into the second half, Megan Belka ’13 found Briggs on a long pass where Briggs was able to finish for the goal.
Lincoln answered Hyde’s threat and was able to penetrate the defense and capitalize on three more goals in the second half. Hyde looks to improve their record after the tough 1-7 loss. St. Andrews will visit Hyde on Monday (9/23) where the two teams hope to settle some unfinished business from last season.
