Hyde vs. Berwick Academy
On Saturday morning, the girls JV soccer team drove down to Berwick Academy for the second game of their 2013 season. After arriving to a full blown weekend of homecoming fun and fans for the hosting team, the Hyde Lady Phoenix knew they would have to rally for a chance of victory. Despite having a few of our key players benched due to injury, the healthy players settled onto the field, awaiting the starting whistle. Berwick came out very strong and Hyde School struggled to keep their offence at bay. After the first half it was clear that the ladies needed some leadership on the field with the score being 5-0 Berwick.
After some inspirational words from our captain Lutes Bartlett, the girls were ready for the second half. Our defense came out strong with collaborative performances from Melissa MacMahn and Cherri Weng on the fullback wings. Natalya Roman and Pierce Tricarico were also a noteworthy duo and played the entire second half, keeping our defense united and strong. The final score was 6-0 Berwick. Despite a tough loss to the Bulldogs, the girls are ready to come back swinging this week, and anticipation is high for the next competition at Gould this Wednesday.
