Hyde School : 3
Bowdoin JV: 1
The Bowdoin College Men’s Junior Varsity Soccer team traveled to Bath for a scrimmage on the turf field on Friday afternoon. The game was played under sunny skies with warm temperatures.
The scrimmage was played like a 90 minute game with officials and all the normal rules and regulations in place. The first twenty minutes of the game consisted of much back and forth play, with both teams passing and moving the ball well. Hyde scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute when Kienan Brown`16 slotted a rebound off a Wilson MacMillan`14 free kick. Hyde scored again 10 minutes later when Cole Faulkner`15 found the back of the net off a nicely played ball from Wilson MacMillan`14. Solid defensive play led by centerback Andrew Davis`15 and goal keeper Teo Meyerhoff`14 kept Bowdoin scoreless in the first half.
Hyde scored again early in the second half when Wes Miller`14 crossed the ball in from the right flank. Wyatt Lichtenger`14 got his head on the ball, but the keeper blocked it. Zack Heatley`14 gobbled up the rebound and quickly shot it on goal to score. Bowdoin scored their only goal with just over 11 minutes left to play. It was a good match for the Hyde squad. They played with determination and displayed good sportsmanship. Our next match is Wednesday the 25th when we travel to Exeter New Hampshire for a neutral sight competition against High Mowing School.
