Hyde School: 3
Kents Hill: 0
Yesterday, Kents Hill School traveled to Bath to compete in our home opener on the Jay Family Turf field. The match was played under sunny skies and warm temperatures.
The action on the turf field was quick and intense from the first whistle. Kents Hill had some decent offensive chances early in the half, but play was generally dominated by the Hyde boys. Midfielders Kiefer Cundy`15 and Wilson MacMillan`14 possessed well and did a great job of getting the ball up to the attaching players. In the 13th minute, the ball transitioned out to winger Cole Faulkner`15 who crossed it into the area for Frederik Lasson`15 who directed it to the back of the net for the first goal of the game. Kents Hill battled back and had some nice scoring opportunities. Shortly before the half, goal keeper Teo Meyerhoff`14 made a terrific save off a Kents Hill corner kick to preserve the 1-0 lead.
In the 53rd minute, Wilson MacMillan`14 broke free with the ball outside the box and scored on a smartly placed shot to make it 2-0. Kents Hill didn’t let up their efforts and continued playing with determination. The Hyde defensive unit led by Andrew Davis`15 at centerback hampered their efforts and continually transitioned the ball back to our attacking players. With less than 2 minutes left in the game, Kiefer Cundy`15had a throw-in assist to Zack Heatley`14 to make it 3-0. The next contest is at home on Friday the 20th at 4:00 against the men’s JV team from Bowdoin College.
