Wolfpack Boys Varsity Soccer vs. Rocky Hill

Boys Varsity Soccer

September 11, 2013

Final Score:
Hyde: 0 – Rocky Hill: 3

In the Boys Varsity Soccer season opener at Home, the Wolfpack was set to face Rocky Hill on a day where the heat was nearly unbearable. Despite the hot weather, Hyde showcased a very solid and collaborative effort. In what was probably the best soccer Hyde has displayed this far, costly mistakes hurt the Wolfpack. Wanjiang “Iker” Yang ’14 (GK) had a solid game posting 7 saves, 3 of which were miraculous. His solid contribution in goal kept the Wolfpack alive even though defensive mistakes cost Hyde 2 out of the 3 goals. Offensively, the team benefited from the strong play from two of the team leaders, senior captain Felipe Azevedo ’14 and fellow captain Dawit Kiflemariam ’15. The two Center Midfielders did all they could to provide pressure, distribute the ball and fortify the center of the field. Johnny Schaer ’14 and Joey Burns ’14 also contributed on the attack. The two seniors provided the Wolfpack with most of the offensive opportunities. Overall, Hyde did lots of things well. They played with heart and showed lots of determination. Hopefully, despite the loss, the Wolfpack continues their solid collective effort in their next game on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at MacDuffie. Game is set to kick off at 2:00 p.m.
