Hyde – 13
Kent’s Hill – 8
Despite being a bright, sunny day, the outlook looked gloomy as Kent’s Hill quickly racked up 4 points to Hyde’s single point. During an early timeout, the Phoenix were challenged to rise to the occasion, and rise they did. Wilson Macmillan led the charge from the midfield position, pushing transition and hustling to get ground balls. Macmillan also beat the keeper 3 times and added 3 assists to his tally. Joe Stanchina and Wes Miller also dominated the face-off “X” as Joe won the clamp and Wes found the groundballs often. Zack Heatley, Aidan Dorvee, and Kiefer Cundy also pushed the team to victory through great hustle.
The attack led the scoring effort as Evan Robish finished the game with a Hat trick and Brian Edwards also put one in the back of the net. The Game Ball, however, went to Jimmy Talbott who emerged from a slump by netting 6 goals. He found space with great crease movement, freeing his hands and firing shots. He also beat several Kent’s Hill defenders through individual effort. The Phoenix rallied from an early deficit to come back and end with an impressive win. With a shout of “1…2…3…FINISH” Hyde did just that, pushing the tempo until the final whistle.
