Track & Field Meet at Philips-Exeter – 5/4/13

 

The Hyde boy’s and girl’s track team headed over to Philips-Exeter Academy this Saturday to compete against them for our second time this season. We were joined by the Belmont Hill boys’ team for another beautiful day and fantastic meet full of personal records. Overall our team did very well, working with great attitude and gearing up for our final two meets, MAISADs and the New England Championship which we will be hosting on the 18th.

Girl’s Meet:

Senior Mady Preece ’13 continues to do very well in both the 100M and 300M hurdles, placing second in each. Freshman Avery Booth ’15 got a late start to her season but has jumped right in to represent Hyde in several distance events including the 1500M and 3000M, the latter of which she was the only female competitor. The girl’s field team put up several impressive personal records in the shot put: Katie Comeaux ’13, Hope Stinson ’14, Diamond Brown ’16, and Hayley Mandel ’14 all threw their farthest on Saturday! Overall the girls’ team put six personal bests on the board.

 

Boy’s Meet:

Hyde Senior Steven Dwight ’13 came in second in the shot put and discus while freshman Tavis Duvall ’16 followed close behind in the disc to set a personal record and come in third. Sophomore Chris Lutts ’15 set a personal record in the 1500M and his brother Charles Lutts ’13 threw one in the shot put. The boys’ 4 x 400 relay team consisting of Billy Martinez ’13, Troy Jones ’13, Cody Mitchell ’13, and Warsame Mohamed ’14 are currently contending for third place heading in to MAISADs. Other notable performances include sophomore Dean Tian ’15 and junior Moustapha Niang ’14 who both set personal bests in the triple jump. Talin Rowe ’14 continues to improve in the pole vault, vaulting an impressive 10 feet, 6 inches on Saturday to set a new personal record. Overall the Hyde boys’ team set 16 personal records and move in to MAISADs with confidence and drive.

 

Our next meet are the MAISADS on Saturday May 11th hosted by Hebron Academy with a 10am start.
