Bath: GVL vs. Gould

Hyde — 9

Gould — 10

Hyde Girls Lacrosse Team hosted Gould Academy Saturday afternoon as a part of Hyde’s Spring Family Weekend.  With the support of their families watching, the ladies took the field ready to face their fellow MAISAD competitors.  Hyde’s Julia Jackson scored in the first few minutes of the game. Halfway through the first half the scoreboard read 3-1 in Hyde’s favor with another from Jackson and one from Carolyn Moore.  Hyde felt maybe a little too comfortable with their lead, and Gould turned up the heat and netted five unanswered goals before the half ended, leaving Hyde down 3-6.  So far this season, Hyde has gotten discouraged when behind by several goals, but cheers from the sideline and the drive from within inspired Hyde to go out strong in the first five minutes of the second half with goals from Jill Tolman, Allie Helfrich, and Moore while letting in only one from Gould.  Now only down by one, Hyde fought hard and defenders Sonya Kobayashi, Chloe Blaylock, and Jailene Martinez tightened up their pressure on Gould attackers.  Susanna McManus tied the game with 13 minutes left in the half, but Gould responded with their own a minute later.  Goals were traded for the remainder of the game with 2 more goals from Gould and 2 Hyde goals scored by Moore and McManus, but unfortunately Hyde was still short by one at the end of the game.  Hyde is looking forward to face Gould again at the end of next week and work harder to earn a different outcome, but before that travel to Hebron Academy Friday afternoon.  A special thanks for all the families and supporters who were able to make it to the game!
