St. Luke’s 5
The Wolf Pack traveled to New Canaan, Ct. to take on St. Luke’s on a warm and sunny spring afternoon. St. Luke’s jumped out to an early lead and found themselves ahead 3-0 in the opening minutes. Hyde’s offense found themselves with many opportunities to score but the stingy St. Luke’s defense and their stellar goalie play prevented the Wolf Pack attack. Costly turnovers and penalties for most of the second quarter put Hyde down at the break 3-0. In the second half, goalie Peter Markham ’13 and the defensive unit of Ryan Cassidy ’13, Holt Brown ’14 and John Nelson ’14 shutdown the St. Luke’s offense but unfortunately Hyde was unable to find the net and found themselves scoreless with five minutes left to play. Finally, Hyde was able to get on the board with a great shot from senior captain Connor McLaughlin ’13 to close the gap to 5-1. Hyde then won the face-off and came down to put another one in the net by senior attackman Jared Larsen ’13 and yet another one by attackman Joe Yanovitch ’13 to put the score at 5-3 with two minutes to play. Hyde was able to force a turnover and came down on offense but a costly penalty sealed the victory for St. Luke’s. Next up St. Andrew’s School….. stay tuned!
