Team: Boy’s Future Varsity Lacrosse
Date: April 10, 2013
Score: Hyde: 1 Hebron Academy: 10
The Hyde Future Phoenix hosted the Lumber Jacks of Hebron for the first MAISAD contest of the season. The first four minutes of the game were played evenly as each team traded goals as the two attack-men; Max Kaplan ‘16 and Steven James of Hebron dented the twine. The next four minutes showed off the offensive threats of the jacks as they pumped in four goals to close the 1st period with a 5 – 1 lead.
As usual, ground balls continued to be the name of the game and Hebron bested the Phoenix in the first and second periods. Hebron added two more goals to close the half with Hebron on top and in control leading 9 – 1. It was short half time talk and listen.
The second half saw the Phoenix come out to get ground balls. It was a different game. The future Phoenix began to out ground ball the jacks and they finally began to test the Jacks’ keeper. Standouts for the Phoenix included Ben Fusco ’14 won 3 face offs, Chris Moreau ’14 scooped up 5 ground balls and added 3 clears to the offense, Aaron Leffert ‘ 14 and Justin Shulman ’14 with 4 ground balls and a couple clears each.
However, two Phoenix stood out from the rest. Goalie David Wu ’15 saved 24 of 34 shots on net. David kept the Phoenix in the game. For his heart and hustle and willingness to go where ever he was needed and do what needed to be done (shots and ground balls) Hang Zhao ‘15 earned the “Dirty Ball” award. Hyde hosts the Huskies of Kent’s Hill this Saturday. It is time for a reshuffle of the team to become more competitive.
