Bath: GVL vs. Hebron

Hyde — 3

Hebron — 7

Hyde Girls Lacrosse hosted Hebron Academy Wednesday afternoon for their second MAISAD match of the season. Hyde started the game with two goals from junior captain Carolyn Moore off of strong drives to cage. The game settled a bit, but Hyde continued to dominate the field forcing turnovers as Hebron tried to carry the ball up field with nicely executed stick checks and ground ball pick-ups by Shannon Ward and Julia Jackson. Hebron put some pressure on Hyde’s defense led by Tia Bauer-Hummel, Claire Yin, and Cailin Darling and goalie, Caroline Hammond but for the beginning part of the game Hyde did a good job stopping Hebron’s offensive attacks and Hammond made some important saves. The next goal of the game came from junior Olivia Griffing with just under ten minutes to play in the half after a crease roll starting behind the net. Unfortunately, however, that was the last time Hyde was able to get the ball past Hebron last line. Hebron scoring started just 12 seconds after Griffing’s goal by gaining possession off the draw and quickly transitioning the ball up field and past Hyde. Hebron won the next two draw controls and were able to capitalize on each, entering half time with a tied 3-3 score. The second half saw 4 goals from Hebron and none from Hyde despite a few close attempts and the game ended with Hyde down by four. Hyde’s Sonya Kobayashi worked hard on defense locking down her player and causing some turnovers with het tenacious play. Hyde is starting to play as a team and starting to put what they been practicing into game. Next the girls travel to Berwick for a 4:30 game on Saturday.
