Hyde — 7
Mt. Ararat — 8
Hyde’s Girls Lacrosse Team opened the season hosting neighbors from Mt. Ararat on the turf field Friday afternoon. The team took the field with a lot of excitement and energy. Carolyn Moore won the first draw control of the game and within 11 seconds of the starting whistle took a shot and netted Hyde’s first goal of the season. A quick Mt. Ararat goal was followed by the first of two for the day from Olivia Griffing. In the starting two minutes of the game, Hyde was leading 2-1. Things settled down a bit and ten minutes later the teams exchanged goals, then Hyde began to dominate play and finished the half with a 6-3 lead, with two goals from Kara Fischer and one from Jill Tolman. Hyde felt confident, but the second half saw some increased spirit from Mt. Ararat. The newness and the length of the game finally caught up to Hyde and the team allowed five Mt. Ararat goals compared to only one from Hyde’s Kara Fischer in the second half. It was a good but disappointing start for the Hyde squad. With a couple more practices before their game next Wednesday, Hyde is looking to work hard so they can seal the deal in the first conference match of the season.
