Wolfpack JV Basketball Ends Season vs. Deerfield, 51-62

On Saturday, February 23, the Hyde Wolf Pack traveled north to Deerfield Academy for the final game of the season.  Hyde was unprepared for the pace of play in the opening minutes, and quickly fell behind 15-2.  A change to a simpler 2-3 zone settled the game down for the Wolf Pack, but they only managed to play Deerfield point-for-point and went into the half down 24-40.  In the second half, Hyde switched to a man-defense and started creating turnovers.  Six minutes into the half, the Wolf Pack had narrowed the gap to 10 points, but it was unfortunately as close as they would get, ultimately losing by the score of 62-51.  In the final game of his Hyde career, senior co-captain Sam Valentine contributed 17 points and played consistently aggressive defense.  He was unlucky to pick up his fifth foul with 3 minutes remaining.  John Nelson ’14 put in 14 points, and Jason Zhao ’14 contributed 9.  Coaches Gaines and Morgan congratulate the Boys JV team on a season to proud of.
