The Hyde Lady Phoenix got their post-season off to a strong start with a dominating 48-28 victory over the # 6 seed Cavaliers of Valley.  Sr. Kara Fischer led the way with a game high 22 points along with 13 steals and 6 rebounds.  Sr. Katie Comeaux also had a strong game contributing 14 points, 12 rebounds and 9 steals.  Even before the game in the locker room, it was clear that Fischer and Comeaux were intent of pumping up their team to make sure that they made the most of the Augusta experience.  Their teammates were happy to follow their lead as all 10 players contributed to a strong team effort, especially on the defensive end of the court where the Lady Phoenix forced their opponents into 32 turnovers.  Despite struggling with foul trouble, So. Jailene Martinez scored 5 points and worked hard on the boards to limit the scoring chances of the Cavaliers.  Fr. Chloe Blaylock scored 4 points while Jrs. Shannon Ward and Carolyn Moore and So. Allie Helfrich each added a basket.  The time for celebration is limited as the Lady Phoenix plan to return to the gym later the same day to prepare for their next opponent, #2 seed and defending Western Maine champions, Richmond.  The game will be played this Thursday at10 am. at the Augusta Civic Center.
