Hyde Wolfpack- 32
St.Thomas Moore- 41
On Wednesday February 13, the Hyde JV basketball squad traveled to Oakdale, CT for a rivalry game against St. Thomas Moore. The game proved to be a physical, defensive battle with both teams playing pressure zones, preventing any easy opportunities. Team co-captain Sam Valentine ’13 lead all scorers with five points in the first half. John Schaer ’14 provided solid defense off the bench, as well as fluid three point basket that helped the team gain momentum and cruise into the first half with a two point lead.
In the second half, St. Thomas Moore came out with renewed energy, pressing the Wolfpack and converting carless turnovers into easy baskets. Omri West ’16 played physical defense down low, and helped the Wolfpack on the boards; Valentine once again sparked a Wolfpack run (scoring ten points in the second half); but, to no avail as St. Thomas Moore withstood the Wolfpack surge and came away with a nine point win. The Wolfpack looks forward to its next game at Tabor.
