Wolfpack 3rds Basketball Holds Off Late Portsmouth Abbey Charge, Win 37-30

This past Wednesday, Hyde travelled to Portsmouth Abbey School for their second contest against the Ravens this season. Victorious in the first outing, the Wolfpack was looking for another win against a resurgent Ravens 3rds basketball team. Hyde quickly jumped out to an eleven point lead in the first half from stout defense and quality offensive possessions. Six Wolfpack players contributed in the scoring as Hyde took an eight point lead into halftime. The Ravens started the second half with an effective full-court press, narrowing the margin to three points with two minutes to play. Off a missed Ravens jumper, Kevin Ge ’15 pushed the ball up the floor and got the ball to wing playerJustin Shulman ’14 who buried a wide open three to help put the game out of reach. Quality foul shooting at the end of the contest turned out to be the difference maker for the win.

The 3rds managed to move the ball effectively on offense and every player made the most of their touches. Drew Handley ’14 finished with his second double-double of the season with eleven points and eleven rebounds while Josh Bouchard ’14 finished with nine points. Kevin Ge ’15 ran the offense well and was pivotal in breaking down the Ravens’ press late in the game. Hyde is back in action on Wednesday, February 13th against Putnam Science.
